With a new, fully digital strategy, Hasselblad sets new benchmark in high-end DSLR camera systems for professional photographers.
Hasselblad is today firmly positioning itself as the pre-eminent provider of high-end digital cameras with the launch of the Hasselblad H3D, the world's first 48mm full-frame DSLR camera system. The H3D is the result of Hasselblad抯 strategy of taking photographic flexibility and image quality to new levels, as yet unseen in any competing product. When compared with high-end 35mm DSLRs, the H3D delivers unmatched pixel resolution, better colors and detail rendering and a new choice of viewfinders for creative image composition. In comparison with digital backs, the H3D delivers image quality with a higher level of detail and true sharpness thanks to Hasselblad's Digital APO Correction (DAC) and the advances of its new Ultra-Focus functionality. The H3D抯 full-frame concept offers unique control of image composition and with its new 28mm lens, the H3D allows photographers for the first time ever to take wide angle shots on a 36 x 48mm sensor.
Christian Poulsen, CEO of Hasselblad comments: "The digital revolution prompted many professional photographers to adopt high-end 35mm DSLRs as their back-up or even their main camera. But as the most demanding photographers have become acquainted with the technology, the feedback we've had indicates that high-end 35mm often doesn't offer the required image quality. Many photographers also miss the high-end camera system's additional photographic flexibility that is beyond the physical parameters of the high-end 35mm DSLR, which was originally designed for ultra-fast shooting environments. Hasselblad has been deluged by requests from traditional camera back buyers for true wide angle photography and extended image quality. We're confident that in the H3D, a logical evolution of the H1D and H2D, professional photographers will find the complete photographic solution for these needs. What Victor Hasselblad managed to develop with the classic V camera system, the H3D now extends into the digital age."

The Hasselblad H3DII-50 is a new 50 megapixel DSLR camera system. The H3DII-50 uses Kodak’s 50 megapixel 36x48mm CCD sensor, which is twice the size of the largest 35mm DSLR sensors. The H3DII50 also provides improved controls and functionality, better sensor cooling, a new and more intuitive user interface, and a bright, 3 inch LCD display. Hasselblad has also announced the HTS 1.5 tilt/shift lens adapter, which by enlarging the image circle makes room for +/- 18mm shift and +/-10 degrees of tilt. The H3DII-50 camera will be available from October 2008 at a price of $39,995 excluding tax.
The H3DII-50 is the top model of Hasselblad’s H3DII family, and as the fifth generation of our medium format DSLR camera system, sets a new standard for image detail. The 50Mpix sensor is implemented in the 48mm full-frame house also used for the renowned H3DI-39 camera. This 36mmx48mm sensor size has two advantages. It provides the basis for advanced and well balanced lens performance and it allows you to work with our revolutionary HTS 1.5 tilt/shift adapter which by enlarging the image circle make room for +/- 18mm shift and +/-10 degrees of tilt.
With its unique large and bright viewfinders, its wide range of HC and HCD lenses, which match the best of the Hasselblad icon lenses from Carl Zeiss, and its wide choice of accessories, the H3DI-50 is the ultimate camera choice for the discerning professional photographer who will simply not settle for second best. In addition to the added-value options inherent in the Hasselblad camera system, it is Hasselblad image quality that stands out the most. The H3DII-50 has been developed around a new digital camera engine, which delivers increased lens performance and a new level of image sharpness.
By focusing on the integrated digital camera architecture, Hasselblad is able to offer the full benefits of professional medium-format digital cameras with the ease of-use found in the best 35mm DSLRs. The Hasselblad 503CW is constantly evolving, constantly improving. With the Hasselblad 503CW, you're always ready to grow. Whether it's adapting to next year's digital options or last century's lenses, the outstanding versatility of the 503CW provides a bridge between classic and cutting edge.
This single-lens reflex camera is one of the primary building blocks of the Hasselblad System and is a perfect choice both for hand-held photography and as a studio camera. The 503CW combines TTL flash metering, 1/500 sec flash synch, power winder/IR remote options, and compatibility to peripherals past and present. The camera is compatible with the entire range of Hasselblad leaf shutter lenses and operates at lens leaf shutter speeds from 1 to 1/500 sec.
Thanks to the innovative GMS (Gliding Mirror System), it produces a full viewfinder image with virtually all Hasselblad lenses and boasts a sturdy, mechanical construction with a robust, one piece aluminum alloy body. This heavy-duty construction makes it ideal for the often-demanding world of daily professional use. With the addition of the Electric Remote Control or the Hasselblad Infrared Remote Control, the camera can be controlled manually or remotely from anywhere in the studio.
The 503CW is an ideal camera for almost all situations, wherever you may find yourself, and is easily adaptable to fit your situation or changing needs.
Mix and Match
The 503CW can be used with any one of 14 different lenses, from 30 to 500 mm in focal length. All lenses are made by Zeiss, the worlds leading optics manufacturer. Thanks to Zeiss T* anti-reflection coating and internal stray light reduction treatments, these lenses produce unbeatable image contrast and color saturation. The Hasselblad system also offers converters of the same optical quality 1.4x, 2x Converter XE and the PC-Mutar 1.4x for perspective control. Interchangeable film magazines allow for rapid reloading of film, change of film type or format. There are magazines for 120, 220, and 70 mm perforated film. Film magazines can be changed whenever you choose without losing a single frame. Exposure and composition can be tested immediately with the Polaroid magazine. In fact, the 503CW is also compatible with all Hasselblad magazines manufactured since 1957. Talk about long lasting compatibility!
And its as adaptable as it is compatible. In addition to the standard folding focusing hood, several types of viewfinders are available for the 503CW, offering various viewing angles. You can choose between focusing hoods, reflex, prism and meter prism viewfinders. The meter prism viewfinders PME45 and PME90 feature TTL spot metering, center-weighted TTL integral metering, and incident light metering via a dome sensor.
Let There Be Light
The built-in flash control system (TTL/OTF) turns flash photography into childs play. A sensor measures the light reflected off the film surface and automatically controls the flash precisely to provide the perfect exposure, regardless of the lens focal length or lighting conditions.
The 503CW is also incredibly easy to focus. The focusing screen is large and bright - 54x54 mm - and features a micro prism and split-image rangefinder. In addition an interchangeable 4.5x magnifier in the folding focusing hood facilitates precise focusing.
Digital photography
What could be better than the marriage of the best of the old and the best of the new? The 503CW allows you to combine the utmost in traditional photographic quality with the latest technological advances. Superior quality, ultimate flexibility, and no compromises. That's been our approach since the start and it's the approach that guides us still. And that's why Hasselblad is the ideal choice for those medium format photographers considering the move into digital photography. For those wanting the benefits of today's technology, but who aren't willing to sacrifice image quality and reliability.
Eleven leading manufacturers currently produce digital backs to fit Hasselblad cameras, recognizing the perfect union this combination represents. A range of features standard to the 503CW, such as its remote release and winder capability, make it an ideal camera for digital photography.
Winder CW
The film-winding crank can be replaced with the Winder CW, providing the 503CW with both automatic winding and remote control capability. The Winder CW's SAI (Self Adjusting Interface) provides automatic adjustment for each individual camera body. The winder can be controlled manually or remotely with the Electric Remote Control lead or the Hasselblad Infrared Remote Control
With the Winder CW, the camera's ergonomics are particularly suited to handheld photography. The grip also comes in handy when turning the camera 90 degrees for vertical shots with the 645 magazine or format masks.

Description
The Hasselblad CFV digital back is custom built to match the design and functionality of the Hasselblad V system cameras, thus turning the V system camera into a new digital workhorse. Digital capture is extended with tools for powerful digital workflow control with the Hasselblad instant approval architecture. The Hasselblad CFV also fits view cameras using the V system interface plate for mechanical attachment and flash sync connection to trigger the digital capture. Hasselblad CFV thereby brings an ultra high level of integration and flexibility to the professional photographer who needs the best for both mobile and studio shooting.
Hasselblad has developed a new, powerful color profile to be used with its Flexcolor imaging software. Working with the new Hasselblad RGB color profile enables you to produce outstanding, reliable out-of-the box colors, with skin tones, special product gradations, and other difficult colors reproduced effectively. The new 3F RAW file format is designed to ensure that images captured on Hasselblad digital products are quickly, effectively and safely stored on the available media (CF card, imagebank, etc). The file format includes lossless image compression saving 33% of storage space. Combined with the architecture of the Hasselblad back, this allows for capturing up to 35 shots per minute. The 3FR files can be converted directly into Adobe's raw image format DNG ('digital Negative'), bringing this new technology standard to the professional photographer for the first time. The DNG file format enables raw, compressed digital backs image files to be opened directly in Adobe Photoshop. This allows photographers to operate quickly and efficiently, reducing the "downtime" taken to process image data and enabling final images to reach the client more quickly.
Hasselblad has created instant approval architecture (IAA), an enhanced set of feedback tools, designed to liberate the photographer to focus on the shoot rather than the selection process. IAA triggers audible and visible signals for each image captured, telling the photographer immediately whether the image has a red, amber or green light status. The information is recorded both in the file and in the file name, providing a quick and easy way to classify and select images, in the field or in the lab.
Hasselblad CFV offers a choice of the portable CF card storage, tethered operation with extended, special capture controls or optionally the flexible image bank. With these three operating and storage options, the photographer is able to select a mode to suit the nature of the work at hand, whether in the studio or on location.
The Hasselblad CFV combines timeless design with modern technology, providing photographers with seamless integration and unmatched flexibility, for both mobile and studio shooting.
